VINTAGE RESEARCH

Due to the guide being based predominantly on vintage/charity shops in Leeds, and due to the little research my client has provided me with i decided to conduct my own research in order to make a more informed piece of design.

I went in to Leeds city center and went in to various charity and vintage shops such as Blue Rinse and British Heart Foundation to see if anything within the stores could provoke any design ideas, the main thing i noticed within was the fact that it was very cluttered and at times hard to move. The layout of clothes had little or no order, all on a rail with small bits of the pattern or material visible to the potential buyer.

However chaotic the shopping experience may be, i believe its the struggle which makes the experience more enjoyable, with the customer having to fight through badly patterned shirts in order to find the one they actually want.

The experience has given me the idea of making the layout of the book very clustered and close together in order to reference the feelings i got whilst shopping inside the shops i assume (it's hard to say as i still have no content from my client) will be featured in the guide.
