revised brief + research (sb1)

I  thought it would be appropriate to have a more direct focus for the designs rather than just basing them off of new romantic fashion. I really like the idea of looking at song lyrics/music video from the chosen new romantic bands pre 1983 (when the new romantic style started to fade after bands bean gaining mainstream attention) and basing the design off of that as well as the bands style, rather than just looking at the bands style of clothing as i feel this will enable me to produce designs which are more directly related to the band/artist therefor making them more appropriate to the customer who may be more of a fan to one band over the other.
Below i have written a brief so that my idea can be expressed more clearly.

Brief 

Create a series of three ties and a series of promotional images which are based upon the clothing styles and music of three New Romantic bands pre 1983 (the three bands are Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Culture Club).

The ties are being designed for a past audience, office workers in the 80s who love new romantic music and want to show their love for the band in a way which is appropriate for a corporate setting.
The promotional images should also be designed in an 80s aesthetic to ensure they're appropriate for the era, there should also be an element of humor within the images.


Duran Duran

Below are a collection of quick mood boards i made using stills from the three new romantic bands most popular songs, i think it would be quite nice to name each tie too, so for example the Duran Duran tie would be called 'girls on film'. Below are also the song lyrics and images of the band and their new romantic clothing style, the design for this tie will take influence from the imagery within the music video, the lyrics of the song and the patterns or shapes of the clothing they wear.

Culture Club 

Spandau Ballet

As Spandau Ballets video for 'True' doesn't tell as much of a story as the other two, most of the design inspiration will come from the lyrics of the song and the colours used within the video rather than the imagery.
